Street Racing, more commonly know as Drag Racing, is governed by 625 ILCS 5/11-506.    "No person shall engage in street racing on any street or highway of this State and no owner of any vehicle shall acquiesce in or permit his or her vehicle to be used by another for the purpose of street racing."

Street Racing or Drag Racing is a Class A Misdemeanor.   Allowing your vehicle to be used in a street race is a Class B Misdemeanor.  A second offense for street racing is a Class 4 Felony.

 

This offense is eligible for Court Supervision.  The first offense carries a  $250 fine.  The second offense carries a $500 fine. Anyone convicted of street racing shall have their driver's license revoked.
